(Manama) – His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has stressed that the Bahraini society is cohesive and united in its nature, and will remain so in the present and the future.
We have built Bahrain on the bases of cohesion and harmony, and will build future Bahrain on the same principles, he said, stressing that anything that undermines Bahrain’s social cohesion, in words or deeds, is categorically rejected and denounced.
HRH Premier pointed out that social media networks have created an open space that has to be used for enhancing the nation-building process, and not for destruction or undermining the good reputation of the Bahraini people –individuals or institutions.
HRH the Prime Minister made the statements while receiving Royal Family members, MPs, as well as economic, social and cultural personalities, at the Gudaibiya Palace today.
HRH Premier hailed Bahrainis’ landmark achievements in various fields, citing Bahrain’s U17 national basketball team’s winning the 16th GCC U17 Basketball Championship, recently held in Muscat, Oman, stressing that the victory is a source of pride for everyone, and reflects the distinguished status reached by Bahraini sports.
The Prime Minister congratulated the President of the Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA), HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa for the prestigious GCC title, praising the players’ outstanding performance, and affirming that the exploit adds to the Bahraini basketball’s rich record of landmark achievements.
HRH Premier commended the role played by HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali to develop Basketball in Bahrain, and to increase BBA’s achievements.
While tackling parliamentary issues, HRH Premier expressed respect for the efforts being exerted by the members of the National Assembly to serve the nation.
“We hold respect for them, and appreciate their role in serving the nation, and in being the voice of the citizens who elected them. We will never accept any attempt to offend them. We hold every respect for them, and for those who elected them,” he said, while referring to MPs.
HRH the Prime Minister stressed the need to immunize society against the dangers of social media networks, and against the sensitivity their misuse have created, and could have been avoided.
The Premier called for caution of the attempts made by some sides to use social media to offend the Bahraini society and sow divide among its members, emphasising that the negative impact of social media’s misuse on society is no less than that caused by terrorism, as both result in undermining stability.
