The third annual AlUla Arts Festival, now under the banner of Art Unframed, will unfold across 22 days in the mesmerizing landscape of the ancient oasis of Al-Ula. This expansive event encompasses a rich tapestry of activities, exhibitions, and creative endeavors, welcoming participation from local, regional, and international artists, performers, curators, and collectors. Notably, Obaid Alsafi, recipient of the prestigious art prize in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), will reveal his winning masterpiece, “Palms in Eternal Embrace,” marking a significant moment in the festival’s narrative. Concurrently, Manal Al Dowayan will introduce “Oasis of Stories,” a monumental land-art installation inspired by AlUla Old Town, with accompanying exhibitions in AlJadidah Arts District showcasing her innovative works.
Furthermore, Al-Ula will serve as the venue for Artist Residency exhibitions, featuring compelling pieces by renowned artist Hassan Hajjaj and a collection of contemporary works loaned from Saudi collectors. These exhibitions, alongside the return of the Desert X Al-Ula exhibition, symbolize Al-Ula’s burgeoning stature as a nexus for cultural exchange and artistic expression. Running until April 30, these events offer a glimpse into the vibrant cultural landscape of Al-Ula, laying the groundwork for future endeavors in the realm of contemporary art and creative discourse.
