President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan hosted a meeting with Cindy McCain, Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi. They discussed enhancing collaboration between UAE entities and the WFP, with a focus on providing humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, where the humanitarian situation is deteriorating.
Sheikh Mohamed stressed the urgent need for humanitarian corridors to enable international and regional organizations to effectively deliver aid to Gaza’s civilians. The discussions also encompassed the joint efforts of the UAE and WFP in tackling food security challenges in impoverished areas, disaster zones, and conflict-ridden regions globally.
His Highness reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to supporting WFP’s global mission as part of the country’s broader approach to aiding those in need. He emphasized the importance of international solidarity in addressing global food crises, underscoring their impact on international peace and security.
Cindy McCain expressed her gratitude for the UAE’s significant and constructive collaboration with WFP, particularly in supporting those affected by conflicts and disasters. She commended the UAE’s pioneering initiatives in addressing global food security challenges and its innovative strategies for sustainable solutions.
Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, was also present at the meeting.
