In Jakarta on September 23rd, 2023, Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, led the UAE delegation to the UAE-Indonesia Business Forum. During his visit, President Joko Widodo welcomed the UAE’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, expressing Jakarta’s readiness to support cooperation in all aspects.
Al Mazrouei conveyed greetings from UAE leaders and their wishes for Indonesia’s progress. He emphasized the UAE’s dedication to fostering relations and cooperation in various fields, including contributing to the construction of Indonesia’s new capital on Kalimantan Island.
The UAE praised the success of the Cirata Floating Photovoltaic Power Plant project in West Java, the world’s largest floating solar power plant, a collaboration between Masdar and PT PJBI.
Al Mazrouei highlighted UAE companies’ interest in renewable energy investments in Indonesia, which has the potential to become a green energy hub in Southeast Asia.
The business forum discussed economic and investment issues in energy, mining, tourism, real estate, aviation, and regional cooperation expansion. Indonesian officials lauded the UAE as a reliable strategic partner and urged joint investments in various sectors, including oil refineries, renewable energy, and the new Indonesian capital.
The UAE Ambassador to Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and ASEAN encouraged both public and private sectors to leverage the UAE-Indonesia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, fostering cooperation in diverse fields.
The forum also featured discussions on investment opportunities in Indonesia across sectors like export/import, fisheries, agriculture, real estate, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, and oil & gas. Subsequent business meetings explored investment projects, particularly in energy, tourism, real estate, and expanding UAE investments in Indonesia. The UAE delegation included officials from various entities and companies, highlighting their interest in strengthening economic ties.
