The UAE has announced its groundbreaking participation in NASA’s Lunar Gateway Station project, joining forces with the USA, Japan, Canada, and the European Union. This historic initiative includes sending the first Emirati and Arab astronaut to the lunar orbit and establishing a space operations center and a global astronaut training center within the UAE. His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum attended the launch, expressing their enthusiasm for the country’s contribution to the global scientific endeavor. The UAE will oversee the development of the Emirates Airlock, a crucial component facilitating lunar missions and spacewalks. This collaboration signifies the nation’s commitment to international space exploration and reflects its ambition to play a vital role in future lunar and Martian missions.
