Dubai Chamber Launches Netherlands Office, Expanding European Footprint

Dubai International Chamber, one of the three chambers operating under the Dubai Chambers umbrella, has inaugurated its fourth European office in the Netherlands, marking a total of 25 international offices. Situated in Amsterdam, this office aims to fortify economic and trade connections between Dubai and the Netherlands.

This strategic move aligns with the ‘Dubai Global’ initiative, initiated by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, which strives to draw new business, investments, and talent to Dubai. Simultaneously, it enables Dubai-based companies to expand into priority international markets. The overarching objective of Dubai Global is to establish a network of 50 representative offices worldwide by 2030.

The Amsterdam office was formally inaugurated in a special ceremony attended by Ali Rashed Alshehhi, Chargé d’Affaires of the United Arab Emirates to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Salem Al Shamsi, Vice President of Global Markets at Dubai Chambers, and distinguished representatives from the Dutch business community.

Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, commented on the inauguration, stating, “The launch of our fourth European office is a significant stride towards realizing our strategic objectives. We are making consistent progress in expanding our global reach and reinforcing Dubai’s position on the international stage. The Amsterdam office will play a pivotal role in facilitating the expansion of Dubai-based companies into key European markets, attracting foreign direct investments, and fostering bilateral trade growth in line with the wise leadership’s economic aspirations.”

According to Dubai Customs statistics, non-oil bilateral trade between Dubai and the Netherlands amounted to approximately AED 11.5 billion in 2022. In the first eight months of 2023 alone, 236 Dutch companies registered as members of Dubai Chamber of Commerce, bringing the total number of Dutch members to 1,520. This represents a remarkable 35% increase compared to the same period in 2022, highlighting the Dutch business community’s keen interest in Dubai.

The Amsterdam office’s launch will play a pivotal role in enhancing bilateral trade between Dubai and the Netherlands, particularly in high-potential sectors such as fruits and vegetables, textiles, antiques, artistic products, perfumes, cosmetics, and medical equipment. Additionally, promising investment opportunities have been identified in areas like agribusiness, chemical products, and the creative industries.

This new office will serve as a platform to showcase Dubai’s competitive advantages and offer dedicated on-ground support to Dutch companies aiming to enter Dubai and expand into the Middle East and beyond. The Dubai International Chamber team in Amsterdam will prioritize building strong relationships with key public and private sector stakeholders, as well as assisting Dubai-based companies in expanding into the Netherlands by connecting them with potential partners to access the European market and scale their operations.

Dubai’s strategic location and top-notch logistics facilities have solidified the emirate as the preferred trade hub for Dutch companies with global aspirations. Serving as a gateway to over 2.2 billion consumers, Dubai facilitates Dutch businesses and those from across the wider European continent in expanding their international presence.
