UAE participates in International Labour Conference

(Geneva) – UAE represented by Ministry of Labour, is taking part in the 103rd session of International Labour Conference which is being convened at the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) and the headquarters of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) bringing together more than 5,000 delegates representing 185 of the organisation’s member states.
The UAE Labour Minister, H.E. Saqr Ghobash, will attend the plenary session of the International Labour Conference, scheduled on 4th June at UNOG, and the 47th session of the coordination meeting of the Labour Ministers’ Council of Cooperation Council for Gulf Arab States (GCC).
UAE’s delegation led by Minister H.E. Ghobash included Humaid bin Deemas Al Suwaidi, Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Affairs, Khalifa Khamis Mattar Al Kaabi, member of UAE delegation to the ILO, Mohammed Al Shamsi, Chairman UAE Coordinating Assembly for Occupational Societies, and others.
Next Monday, UAE will be part of the upcoming ILO Board of Directors’ nominations, running as board director of Asia and Western Pacific group. UAE’s nomination receives large support from the group.
The ILO conference which runs between 28th May-12th June will discuss three vital reports prepared by the organisation’s technical committees on the transformation from informal economy to formal economy, promoting actions aimed at putting an end to forced labour, as well as sustainable employment recovery policies.
