
(Abu Dhabi) – His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice -President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said that assessment of performance is not confined to ministries and entities, rather it is a rule that is applicable to all. Sheikh Mohammed noted that the Federal Cabinet and the Ministerial Council for Services (MCS) are conducting periodical review and assessment of their performance to take stock of achievements, correct any deficiencies, if found, and continuously improve performance and efficiency.
Sheikh Mohammed made his remarks as he chaired the Federal Cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace, which dedicated part of its works to review the annual performance of the two federal councils for 2012. Statistics showed that the two federal top bodies took more than 500 resolutions in 2012 regarding 13 key sectors like economic development, infrastructure, government sector development, policies, legislation’s and agreements, environment, energy, justice, security, media and foreign policy, etc.
Average resolutions taken in each session was 18. Hailing the performance of the Ministerial Council for Services under the chairmanship of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed said the Council has become a key pillar for decision making and strategic mechanism for developing strategic financial and services policies.
As he renewed his confidence in the council, Sheikh Mohammed urged its members to double their efforts in 2013, fully commit themselves to the President’s national action programme and place the citizen at top of their priorities when taking decisions and devising development plans.
