
(Dubai) – His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, reviewed a package of developmental projects by the Roads and Transport Authority’s (RTA) to be implemented in the run-up to World Expo 2020.
Shaikh Mohammed was accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai; H.E. Lt General Musbeh bin Rashid Al Fattan, Director of Sheikh Mohammad’s Office; and other officials during the briefing held at the RTA headquarters in Dubai.
Sheikh Mohammed listened to a detailed presentation on the RTA’s ambitious development projects to facilitate the World Expo, including development of the public transport system, which involves the Dubai Metro, Dubai tram, the bus and taxis services as well as the use of smart solutions to provide the best services to customers.
Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA, said the plan includes the expansion and development of Sheikh Zayed Road and finding effective solutions to reduce traffic on the vital road by constructing bridges and new subways.
Upon completion, the project would effectively contribute to moving part of traffic on the busy Sheikh Zayed Road, which extends from the Dubai World Trade Centre roundabout to Jebel Ali, as well as the development of road network around the Dubai International Airport.
