(Manama) – Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain bin Ali Mirza has inaugurated a Sustainable Energy Symposium organized by Irish company ESBI. The event, held under the patronage of the minister, marks the 40th anniversary of the company’s presence in Bahrain.

The minister delivered the keynote speech during which he identified sustainable energy needs and outlined the objectives of the Sustainable Energy Unit.

He also explained the national plan of projects to be implemented in the future and plans to invest in renewable energy. Senior ESBI officials and specialists in the fields of renewable energy also spoke.

The Unit operates under the direct supervision of the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme.

Professionals, researchers, academics, engineers, technicians and managers in the field of renewable energy, as well as investors, businessmen and contractors were also present.
