(London) – H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has reiterated that the Arab region and its historical discoveries have confirmed it as the cradle of writing. He pointed out the role of Arab scientists in preserving the knowledge of civilisations, activating translations, increasing the number of references and their role in publishing during the golden ages of the region.
Dr. Sheikh Sultan explained this in a speech delivered yesterday as he represented the Arab world during the official opening of the 44th session of the London Book Fair 2015, which is taking place at Olympia in West London.
During the ceremony, which was attended by Shaikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Founder and CEO of Kalimat Group, Founder and Patron of the UAE Board on Books for Young People, the Ruler of Sharjah expressed his happiness in participating in the opening ceremony and thanked Jacks Thomas, Senior Executive Director of the London Book Fair, for her invitation.
Dr. Sheikh Sultan spoke about the contributions and efforts of Arab scholars throughout the ages and times in the development of publishing services.
The ceremony was attended by a number of senior officials.
