
(Manama) – His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, hailed the extraordinary result achieved by BAHRAIN MERIDA Cycling Team in San Juan Tour’s third stage (11,9km), expressing optimism at the future of the team in the coming races.
In its second appearance of their debut season, BAHRAIN MERIDA Cycling Team raced to victory in the Argentine-based event thanks to sprinter Ramunas Navardauskas, and HH Shaikh Nasser underlined that the team would continue its march towards conquering more races.
Commenting further on the result, HH Shaikh Nasser said: “I followed the team during their participation in the race, and I firmly believe in the capabilities of the cyclists, and their expertise. They are ready to make difference in the race, and foremost, capable of reaching the goals we set when forming the team as well as hold the flag of our beloved country high. I am very proud and grateful for this first accomplishment of the team, who shoulder great responsibilities to promote Bahrain and add more accomplishments to its name.”
Moreover, HH Shaikh Nasser praised Ramunas Navardauskas, valuing his experience, which allowed him to outrace his opponents to top the podium. “The achievements of BAHRAIN MERIDA Cycling Team arrived at quick pace thanks to the detailed planning of our technical and administrative teams. We look forward to accomplish more. Our star cyclists need to maintain their focus and concentration to overcome the coming challenges. We have full confidence in them,” HH Shaikh Nasser concluded.
