(Manama) – Deputy Prime Minister, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, received President of the UN General Assembly, Miroslav Lajcak, and highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to goals of sustainable development 2030.

Miroslav Lajcak is on a visit to Bahrain to participate in the World Entrepreneurs Investment Forum (WEIF 2017), which was held under the patronage of HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, in the presence of Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and Minister of Industry, Commerce and tourism, Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani.

The meeting was attended by President of Arab Businesswomen Council, Chairperson of Arab African Businesswomen Union, Shaikha Hessa Saad Al Abdullah Al Sabah; UN Resident Coordinator and Resident Representative of UN Development Program, Amin Al Sharkawi; Head of UNIDO-ITPO, Dr. Hashim Hussein and entrepreneurship leaders and experts.

The Deputy Premier conveyed greetings of HRH Prime Minister to Miroslav Lajcak and other participants in the WEIF 2017, wishing them a good stay in Bahrain.

He said the WEIF 2017 reflects keenness of the royal leadership and government to patronize UN activities that contribute to achieving the sustainable development goals.

He added the Government Action Plan 2015-2018 and other national strategies have been laid out in line with the sustainable development 2030.

The attendees expressed appreciation of Bahrain’s interest in activities target achieving sustainable development goals. They attached great significance to HRH Premier’s patronage that vastly contributed to the success of the event and attracting more than 1000 participants of entrepreneurs from approximately 90 countries.

Miroslav Lajcak welcomed the strategic partnership agreement between Bahrain and 16 UN agencies signed by Bahrain’s Foreign Minister and the UN Resident Coordinator in Bahrain, which accentuates both sides’ determination to develop the existing cooperation.
