Bahrain Royal Endurance Team receives Award
(Dubai) – Bahrain Royal Endurance Team, led by HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, and Captain of the Team, received the ‘Best Arab Team Award’ at the Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Sport Creativity Awards ceremony which was held in Dubai under the patronage of HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai. This achievement was made possible thanks to the team’s victory in the World Youth Endurance Championships, held at Chile in 2015.
Receiving the Award on behalf of the team during the event was their Captain, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa from HH Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, who was the sponsor of the ceremony. Present at the event was President of UAE Olympic Committee Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of Jordan and West Asian Football Federations and also a large number of officials. In a statement delivered after the event, HH Shaikh Nasser reiterated that this accomplishment was the result of the constant support being extended by HM the King to the sports movement in the Kingdom of Bahrain, stating that winning this award wouldn’t have been possible without such backing.
“Our joy is double because we are receiving this award in a sister country in the capacity of UAE, particularly in Dubai which we consider as a nation of creativity and invention in various fields thanks to the support of the main backer of innovation, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum who transformed the country into a nation that embraces innovation and creativity,” HH Shaikh Nasser said. “This award is well recognised in the sports field, and athletes are eager to win it because it represents excellence, innovation and creativity. Winning it will certainly boost our efforts in developing the area of sports in the Kingdom,” HH Shaikh Nasser added.
“A lot of factors have contributed to the Bahrain Royal Endurance Team winning such a prestigious award, notably the hard work put in by everyone in the team, including the jockeys and all the staff in the administration, technical and media departments. Each one of them has worked very hard to make our victory in Chile possible and raise the endurance sport in the Kingdom at the level its occupying today,” HH Shaikh Nasser explained, revealing that the team will continue putting short-term and long-term plans and strategies to ensure that the successes achieved so far continue.
