(Manama) – Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi inaugurated at the Education Ministry’s hall in Isa Town the “Arab Reading Challenge” project book fair.

The event, within the framework of distinguished fraternal relations between Bahrain and the UAE, is organised by the Education Ministry in coordination with the project’s management and with the participation of many local publishing companies and ministry libraries. The fair aims to support Bahraini students from public and private schools taking part in the new edition of the project.
The minister stressed that the organisation of the fair is part of the ministry’s efforts to ensure large scale participation of students in the pioneering educational project which was launched under an initiative by UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Bahraini students’ participation in the previous edition was outstanding. Around 18,000 students from Public and private schools took part and 2700 succeeded to achieve the challenge goal by reading and summarizing 50 books. A Bahraini female student was able to clinch third place at the Arab level while a private school was rated as one of the best three Arab schools.

The fair will continue until March 2. Morning visits, from 8.30 am to 2 pm, will be for schools while evening visits, on February 27 and 28 and March 2, from 4 pm to 8 pm, will be for the public.
