(Dubai) – Private and public corporations in the UAE joined thousands of businesses and millions of people across the globe to mark the Earth Hour on Saturday from 8.30pm to 9.30pm, the world’s largest public action for protecting the environment.
Here are some of the programmes charted out by different organisations. DP World’s flagship Jebel Ali Port switched off unnecessary controlled lights at Jebel Ali and other DP World, UAE Region terminals. Sharjah Museum Department (SMD) turned off interior and exterior lights, unplugging all the electrical appliances possible and using alternative means of energy for conservation purposes for an hour.
In addition, various competitions were held in the outer courtyard of the Sharjah Aquarium and Sharjah Maritime Museum.
