Masdar, the UAE’s leading clean energy entity, and Daimler Truck Holding AG have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to assess the viability of exporting liquid green hydrogen from Abu Dhabi to Europe by 2030. The collaboration, signifying a milestone in combating CO2 emissions in road freight transport, was sealed in Abu Dhabi by Fawaz Al Muharrami of Masdar and Martin Daum, CEO of Daimler Truck. The initiative aligns with the UAE’s goal to be a prominent low-carbon hydrogen producer by 2031. Masdar, with a global renewable energy portfolio, aims for 100GW by 2030, while Daimler Truck strives for a CO2-neutral fleet by 2039 through hydrogen and battery-powered vehicles. Daimler Truck’s recent Mercedes-Benz GenH2 Truck prototype completed a 1,047-kilometer trip using liquid hydrogen, showcasing the feasibility of this green energy source. The UAE positions itself as a key and reliable low-carbon hydrogen supplier by 2031.
