In New York on September 21, 2023, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, held separate meetings with several foreign ministers participating in the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA78).
His Highness engaged with counterparts from Djibouti, Costa Rica, Switzerland, Israel, Estonia, Malta, Finland, Bulgaria, and Kyrgyzstan, focusing on fostering friendly relations and bilateral cooperation across economic, trade, cultural, investment, energy, tourism, education, and food security domains.
Discussions delved into critical UNGA78 topics, particularly climate change, alongside regional and international concerns of mutual interest.
Minister Sheikh Abdullah shared details of the UAE’s preparations to host COP28, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, scheduled for Expo City Dubai from November 30th to December 12th. He emphasized the UAE’s commitment to sustainable international cooperation to drive substantive progress in climate action for the betterment of humanity.
Sheikh Abdullah also highlighted the UAE’s dedication to forging enduring partnerships with nations worldwide, grounded in trust, mutual respect, and common interests. The UAE expressed its eagerness to support endeavors aimed at preserving and enhancing global and regional peace and security.
These meetings convened with the participation of esteemed dignitaries from the UAE, including Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Yousef Al Otaiba, Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, and Mohamed Abushahab.
