US to provide $100 million to Tunisia(Washington) – The United States is planning to grant $100 million to Tunisia to help the transitioning democracy pay its debts and focus on boosting its economy, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said while speaking by telephone with Prime Minister, Hamadi Jebali.
The aid still needs approval from Congress. Clinton said that the aid would help Tunisia pay down debts to the World Bank and African Development Bank left over from dictator Zine El Abidine’s 23-year regime.
