(Manama) – The second edition of the ‘Sea Festival’, currently being held at Bahrain Bay, has attracted more than 5,000 visitors since its launch on Thursday 26th October 2017.

During the festival, a number of diving pioneers including Dhow Captains Mr. Essa Al Muhaiza, Mr. Thani Dawood Mayah, Mr. Abdulrahman Ali, in addition to the well-known photographer, Mr. Khalifa Shaheen, and the antique artifacts collector, Mr. Saleh Al Hassan, were honored for their achievements, dedication and passion, and for inspiring the younger generation and educating them on the rich history of Bahrain’s sea industry.

The ceremony was held in the presence of the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, H.E. Mr. Zayed Bin Rashid Al Zayani, and the Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, H.E. Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa.

The event, running until Saturday 4th November, continues to attract visitors of all ages who can enjoy the line-up of exciting sea-related activities such as the Techno Aqua World for games, an indoor area featuring a multimedia photo gallery, a theater, and a designated area for pearl and jewelry merchants. Other activities held in the outdoor area include the surfing simulator, free diving shows and much more. Sea related food vendors are also available onsite.

The ‘Sea Festival’ will be held from 4:00 pm to 10:00pm Saturdays to Thursdays and from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm on Fridays. Ticket prices are BD 2 per person and children under the age of 4 enter for free.
The event also aims to promote and showcase the sea-related handicrafts and the history of the profession through modern technology. Hosting this festival comes in line with the BTEA’s long term strategy to further develop the Kingdom’s tourism sector under the slogan of ‘Ours.Yours.’, which contributes towards the Kingdom’s economy and the 2030 Economic Vision.
