Bahrain marks World Immunization Week

(Manama) – Health Minister Faeqa bint Said Al Saleh inaugurated the World Immunization Week which is held under the theme “Vaccines Work”, in the presence of senior officials, specialists from the Health Ministry and many ministries and non-government organisations.

The Health Minister said Bahrain’s marking of the occasion, which is celebrated in the last week of April every year, for the eighth consecutive year aims to boost the use of vaccines as one of the main preventive health interventions that contribute to saving millions of lives, curb spread of epidemics and control communicable diseases. She stressed Bahrain’s big strides in using vaccines to curb contagious diseases thanks to the endless support of the leadership and the efforts of the staff working in the health sector.

The Health Minister hailed the World Health Organisation (WHO)’s praise of I-SAHA e-programme on vaccines-related data input during an recent extended meeting on the immunization programme.

At the end of the celebration, the Health Minister honoured the participating parties, organisers and sponsors of the event.
