(Manama) – His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa received the President of the Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA), Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, who introduced to him the Chairman of the Arab Basketball Union and President of the UAE basketball Association, Ismail Al-Qarqawi.
HRH Premier affirmed the role of sport in fostering the noble human values based on fraternity and rapprochement, stressing that sport has an outstanding ability to attract the attention of people, and therefore, it should be used to direct potentials towards more nation-building and development, as well as to promote the values of harmony among various civilisations and cultures.
HRH the Prime Minister commended the efforts exerted by the Arab Basketball Union in developing the game, wishing its officials more success.
The Prime Minister welcomed plans to consolidate cooperation and cooperation between the BBA and the Arab Basketball Association, which, he said, will reflect positively on efforts to develop the game in Bahrain, noting cooperation between the two sides will add to the advanced levels reached by Bahraini sport, including basketball.
Arab Basketball Union chairman expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to HRH the Prime Minister for the audience.
He lauded the continuous progress of basketball in Bahrain, affirming the Arab Basketball Union’s keenness on enhancing cooperation with BBA.
He also presented HRH the Premier with the Arab Basketball Union’s shield.
