(Abu Dhabi) – H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Chairman of the Education and Human Resources Council (EHRC), chaired the first meeting of the Council at the ministry’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
The meeting began with the approval of the minutes of the Council’s second meeting, after which a presentation was made about the National Qualifications Authority (NQA) by its General Manager, Dr. Thani Ahmed Al Mehairi.
Sheikh Abdullah emphasised the importance of giving priority in hiring to those who performed their national service.
Additionally, Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Insurance Authority, made a presentation about the initiatives of education about the insurance sector, as well as the Authority’s strategy to build national capabilities through academic and vocational programmes, and to increase the number of Emiratis in the sector.
He also revealed that an agreement with the British Insurance Institute was underway to qualify and certify Emiratis in the sector. Under the agreement, training will start in the second half of 2016.
Al Mansouri said the Authority is also planning to establish the Emirates Insurance Institute, in collaboration with relevant authorities, pending legislative and regulatory frameworks.
Also, Jameela bint Salem Al Muhairi, Minister of State for Public Education, reviewed the cabinet’s recent decision on the federal school system.
Present were Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy; Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education; Najla bint Mohammed Al Awar, Minister of Community Development; Jameela bint Salem Al Muhairi, Minister of State for Public Education; and Dr. Ahmad bin Abdulla Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Higher Education.
EHRC was established by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to quickly determine solutions for the sector based on the situation in the labour market.
