(Cairo) – His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa paid a visit to the Ministry of Defence in Cairo on the sidelines of his official visit to Egypt. HM the King was received by Minister of Defense and Military Production, Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces Lieutenant-General Sedki Sobhi, Chief of Staff Major-General Mahmoud Hejazi, heads of armies and senior officials.
HM the King discussed with Minister of Defense and Military Production, Commander-in-Chief and other senior military officers joint cooperation between the two countries in all fields. He hailed the dedicated efforts of the Defence Ministry staff, led by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, to unite the Arab and Islamic nations and defend their crucial causes and vital interests.
He commended the Egyptian Armed Forces for their high competence which is recognized in the world. He stressed the importance of bolstering bilateral military ties, commending fruitful cooperation between the Egyptian armed forces and the Bahrain Defence force (BDF), citing joint exercises and exchanged military visits.
He also highlighted the joint military committee and the memorandum of understanding which was signed between the BDF General-Command and Egypt’s Armed Forces, which will bolster defence cooperation.
HM the King commended the participation of the Egyptian Armed Forces in Arab Coalition (Operation Decisive Storm and Operation Restoring Hope) and the massive North Thunder drill, looking forward to further participations. .
He reiterated Bahrain’s stance in support of the initiative of President Al-Sisi and the Arab League Resolution to establish a joint pan-Arab force to stave off threats. Lt. Gen. Sobhi expressed thanks to HM the King for the visit, hailing the advanced level of cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the military and defence fields.
