(France) – Dubai plans to complete all major construction activities on the World Expo 2020 site by October 2019, allowing a full year of readiness testing for all networks, systems and technologies. Staff from participating countries working on the Expo will be able to move into Expo Village, a residential community development providing full-time housing facilities after its targeted completion by 2018, following which the pavilion construction will start.
In the early part of 2015, following finalisation of the detailed master planning, site readiness activity will commence on the Dubai Trade Centre-Jebel Ali site to prepare for full-fledged construction immediately. Prior to this, Dubai will seek the approval of the mandatory Registration Dossier from the Bureau of International Expositions (BIE), the governing body of the World Expo.
This document is a legally binding submission that will include more in-depth content across key topics presented in the Bid Document such as theme, communications programmes and the detailed master plan. The approval for the dossier is expected to coincide with the conclusion of Milan Expo 2015.
These plans on the phased completion of projects related to World Expo 2020 were revealed at an Executive Committee session of the Bureau of International Expositions (BIE) in France.
