Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the American University of Sharjah (AUS), inaugurated the Alumni Reunion Dinner with reflections on the university community’s inspiration during her first year in leadership. Addressing alumni, students, faculty, partners, and friends at the on-campus event, she emphasized unity in diversity and a shared commitment to building a better future. She outlined her vision for AUS to stand at the pinnacle of global higher education through pioneering research and innovations. The AUS Alumni Reunion Dinner, organized by the Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs, drew 1,500 attendees, celebrating collective achievements and introducing the AUS Alumni Solidarity Fund to support students facing social changes or emergencies.
The event featured a light show, an opening performance by Fadi Rifaai, an inspirational speech by Moataz Mashal, and a captivating performance by Zeina Barhoum. Two panel discussions highlighted AUS alumni’s career trajectories and the impact of their alma mater on their success. The first panel, moderated by Sheikh Sultan Sooud Al-Qassemi, included Sheikha Lubna Khalid Al Qasimi, Sarah bint Yousif Al Amiri, and Hessa bint Essa BuHumaid. The second panel, moderated by AUS Alumni Association President Ali Lootah, featured Sahar Parham Al Awadhi, Sarah AlAidy, Muhammad Binghatti, and Ahmad Safar Al Zarooni.
Dr. Tod Laursen, Chancellor of AUS, expressed gratitude for the alumni community’s commitment to the AUS Alumni Advancement and Solidarity Fund, recognizing outstanding individuals and sponsors.
