H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council (DSC), led the Council’s Board meeting at the DSC headquarters. The focus of the meeting was the approval of the 2024-2033 strategic plan for Dubai’s sports sector.
In attendance were key figures including Mattar Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of Dubai Sports Council; Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police; Maryam Al Hammadi, and other Board members.
Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed emphasized, “Aligned with the leadership’s vision, we greenlit the latest strategic plan for Dubai’s sports sector, spanning 2024-2033. This plan is crafted to contribute to Dubai’s sustainability goals, including a 50 percent reduction in carbon emissions by 2030, in line with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan and government directives. Our strategic objectives prioritize sustainability across all areas, emphasizing sports’ role in enhancing community health and happiness.”
He continued, stating, “Our goal is to elevate overall quality of life while increasing the sports sector’s contribution to the emirate’s annual GDP. We are actively encouraging private sector involvement in organizing sports events, aiming for 90 percent participation in 450 annual events in Dubai.”
The meeting also delved into the approved budget for Dubai’s sports sector in 2024 and reviewed preparations for upcoming international sporting events. These include the Dubai Electric Scooter Cup on 16th December at Dubai Design District, featuring 16 elite racers.
Furthermore, the Board discussed preparations for future events such as the Dubai Marathon on 7th January 2024, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award on 10th January 2024, the Dubai International Sports Conference, the Globe Soccer Awards on 19th January 2024, and the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup at Dubai Design District from 15th to 25th February 2024.
