Expo 2020 to COP28 Global Art Unites Earth’s Protection

At COP28’s Blue Zone, a dynamic four-meter-long painting, titled “World Painting,” steals the spotlight. This captivating artwork, born during Expo 2020 Dubai, delivers compelling messages for safeguarding planet Earth from climate change’s dire impacts.

Admired by COP28 participants, the painting seamlessly blends diverse artistic genres, symbolizing a call for tolerance, love, and global peace. Its vibrant illustrations and multilingual phrases, including “Expo 2020 Dubai brings us together” in Arabic, create a harmonious visual narrative.

Embracing a common theme of “peace and love,” the artwork features the image of the UAE’s Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, set against the ancient desert backdrop. This image reflects the nation’s commitment to fostering tolerance, goodness, and peace.

Additionally, the painting proudly displays the logo of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, incorporating his motto, “Victory, Triumph, Love,” as a central element. On the sidelines of COP28, artist Beksultan Nurgali, the creative force behind the project, shared insights with the Emirates News Agency.

Nurgali revealed that the World Painting is a global social art project involving over 2,070 individuals from 200+ countries, including 52 Emiratis. Originating at Expo Dubai, the concept garnered recognition from Guinness World Records as a “record achievement” for involving the largest number of participants in a canvas painting.

According to Nurgali, the painting testifies to the shared human spirit aspiring for harmony, unity, and peace on Earth. Renowned figures such as Nicolas Sarkozy, Riz Ahmed, Maurice Ashley, Bai Ling, Carla Bruni, and others contributed to this project, emphasizing its significance beyond artistic boundaries.
