In a meeting between Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Government Relations (DGR) in Sharjah, and a high-level Chinese diplomatic delegation led by Li Xuhang, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China, discussions revolved around enhancing trade, cultural exchange, and fostering partnerships across various sectors. The Chinese delegation, including Chu Tianya and Chao from the Consular Section, engaged in talks with DGR representatives, including Ali Almahyan and Hamda AlZarouni. Sheikh Fahim emphasized DGR’s mission to strengthen relations with Asian countries, particularly China, highlighting the emirate’s expertise in capacity building, talent nurturing, and investment in various fields. He expressed eagerness for further cooperation, emphasizing the role of the Chinese Centre for Cultural Exchange in bolstering cultural relations. Li Xuhang praised Sharjah’s economic and cultural climate, expressing Chinese interest in expanding relations and investing in Sharjah’s advanced economy and regional markets. The longstanding relations between Sharjah and China were highlighted, including the 2019 “Belt and Road Forum” and collaborations in cultural exchange and scientific advancement between the University of Sharjah and the China University of Political Science and Law.
