(Sharjah) – Under patronage of H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah & Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, the Sharjah International Children’s Film Festival 2014 will be launched in Sharjah on October 19. The festival aims at enhancing awareness among children and youth around the world of the cinema and the creativity embedded in the silver screen.
In a press conference held at the premises of the Executive Office of Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, FUNN, the festival’s organiser and the organization specialised in enhancing children and adolescents’ access to arts and media, revealed the details of the second edition of the festival, which will see important updates compared to the first, mainly aiming at offering better interaction opportunities and enriching the local cinema scene.
Sheikha Jawaher bint Abdullah Al Qasimi, FUNN Manager and Director of Sharjah International Children’s Film Festival, revealed that the second edition of the festival will showcase 112 films from 35 countries,in a significant increase from the first year, which saw 78 films from 32 countries. Sheikha Jawaher bin Abdulla highlighted that this year’s films come from a number of internationally renowned film-makers, in addition to various films from Latin America, Africa, Europe, and the Far East. These films represent a wealth of culture, interests, and creativity that is guaranteed to enrich viewers, children and adults alike, and encourage talented young people to pursue their dreams in art and the media.
