As the Ruler of Abu Dhabi, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has issued a law to establish the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, superseding the Emirates Heritage Club and the Cultural Programmes and Heritage Festivals Committee – Abu Dhabi.
The Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority assumes pivotal roles, including the development of strategies for preserving Emirati heritage and traditions, promoting traditional and national identity values, documenting cultural practices, and conducting research aligning with Abu Dhabi’s cultural heritage strategy.
Additionally, the authority will actively support and document initiatives related to Nabati and classical Arabic poetry, review historical studies and publications, and focus on the oral history, spoken dialects, and various forms of literature in the emirate. It aims to raise awareness about UAE traditions, heritage, and national identity, fostering community cohesion.
The authority’s responsibilities extend to managing and organizing festivals, exhibitions, and heritage programs both within and outside the emirate, achieved through effective coordination with relevant stakeholders.
