Dubai International Film Festival Starts

(Dubai) – The Dubai International Film Festival (Diff) 2012 has opened with the gala screening of Oscar-winning director Ang Lee’s 3D adaptation of the popular novel Life of Pi by Yann Martel. Loud cheers rang out as the young Indian actor Suraj Sharma stepped on to the Red Carpet. He was accompanied by his co-stars in the film — Adil Hussain and Shravanthi Sainath — both of whom magnificently embody the characters in Life of Pi.
Among others who embellished the Red Carpet on Diff’s opening night were legends of the silver screen, established and emerging filmmakers, film fans, gifted actors and actresses, and a diverse array of industry professionals. The list included Academy Award-winning actress Cate Blanchett, Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto, British filmmaker Michael Apted, Egyptian actor Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, Nelly, Khaled Al Nebawy, Ezzat Abu Ouf, Salah El Saadany, Ghada Adel and Mohammed Saad.
