(Cairo) – The United Arab Emirates reiterated its total rejection of any regional interference in the internal affairs of Arab states as attempts that threaten the security and stability of these states by inciting strife among their people.
The UAE also demanded an immediate halt to these interferences in order to preserve the principles of good-neighbourliness, respect for the sovereignty, independence and specificity of all states.
The UAE also demanded a halt to the use of sectarianism as a ploy for intervention in the Arab states’ internal affairs through threats, fuelling sectarian conflicts and creating militias to spread chaos violence and undermine regional security.
This came in a statement by Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, ahead of the 145th ordinary session of the Arab League Ministerial Council which began yesterday in Cairo. Bahraini Foreign Minister, Sheik Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa took over from Minister Gargash, chair of the 144th session, as chair of the current session.
“When it chaired the 144th session of the council, the UAE shouldered its responsibilities during the serious and fast-paced developments and challenges in the Arab region and the resulting consequences in a transparent and reliable way and made persistent efforts to create a conducive climate for dialogue to achieve pan-Arab agreement and solidarity and avoid violence and chaos,” Gargash said.
Through its approach, he added, the UAE also sought to curb foreign interference in Arab states’ internal affairs based on its conviction that there is consensus about Arab sovereignty and that any violation of this sovereignty cannot be accepted under any circumstances or claims.
He noted that the UAE sought to contribute to appropriate solutions to the crises hitting some counties in the region through constructive partnerships with other Arab countries and international players and proposed positive mechanisms for implementing the Arab League’s resolutions to achieve pan-Arab solidarity.
