
(Sochi) – Fourteen athletes from the UAE are participating in the 2015 International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation (IWAS) World Games, being held in Sochi, Russia between 26th September-3rd October.
The UAE athletes who joined peers from 35 countries for competitions in archery, arm wrestling, athletics, para-Taekwondo, swimming and table tennis hope to quality for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games in Brazil.
Sultan bin Khadim, Vice President of the UAE Disabled Sports Federation and head of the official Emirati delegation to the games, said the federation takes special interest in the event in Sochi.
He said the support extended by the wise leadership of the country made the national athletic achievements possible.
Bin Khadim urged the participants to double their efforts and add to their achievements.
