UAE Minister launches UAE Reading Club

(Abu Dhabi) – Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, assured that the most important objective of the ministry was to promote culture and knowledge at all levels. He added that the launch of the UAE Reading Club in all cultural centres is one of the tools used to disseminate knowledge. It is also a chance to activate the role of the family in encouraging their children to read, in addition to promoting the importance of reading among all institutions. The reading club is also a tool to discover literary talent and to strengthen the technical support of the Arabic language.
The launch of reading clubs in all public libraries is one of the important informative initiatives that focus on providing excellent knowledge services, and the establishment of a number of events and activities throughout the year. This will contribute to supporting and implementing the ministry’s cultural agenda for 2016.
Sheikh Nahyan explained that reading represents a tool for social peace and stability. He said that the Ministry’s main objective is the development of human skills and promoting human and societal behaviour essential for building a stable society.
UAE Reading Club is will provide cultural and cognitive activities to all segments of society, giving an opportunity for everyone to participate in them such as courses and workshops throughout the year. It will also include the art of innovative reading workshops, panel discussions, cultural seminars by great authors and writers, and teaching Arabic language workshops speakers, in addition to poetry readings, calligraphy workshops for talented students, children storytelling and reading sign language workshops. These activities will be implemented within the club in public places such as parks and malls.
