(Abu Dhabi) – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has celebrated National Environment Day and Gulf Environment Week 2017.

Tadweer – the Centre of Waste Management – organised workshops at government entities and private and public schools to raise public awareness about the importance of sorting out waste at its source and preserving the environment.

Khaled Al Blooshi, Public Awareness Department Head at Tadweer, said: “The National Environment Day is a great opportunity to educate people about our objectives and enhance communication with society.

Tadweer organised awareness workshops and lectures at schools, and a variety activities and competitions in collaboration with government and private entities in order to nurture a conscious generation that understands and applies the principles of sustainability and environmental preservation” and to promote proper waste management techniques among the young generation.

The workshops were held on the occasion of 20th National Environment Day, themed ” Sustainable Production and Consumption” in accordance with Tadweer’s short and medium-term strategy for waste and public health pest control management and Abu Dhabi Environmental Vision 2030.
