(Abu Dhabi) – Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), received Arkin Amir Albak, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China and Chairman of the China-Arab Friendship Society, to discuss ways of boosting bilateral ties in areas of trade, industry, technology, energy and sustainable development.
The two sides also explored methods of bolstering Emirati-Chinese parliamentary cooperation in order to coordinate stances and consultation towards different issues.
Al Qubaisi stressed the need for strengthening parliamentary relations amidst the current international circumstances and the upsurge in criminal acts by terrorist and extremist groups which threaten many parts of the world.
For his part, the Chinese official highlighted the strength of the bilateral ties and praised the positive outcome of the recent visit to China by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. He recognised the importance of energising the UAE-Chinese Parliamentary Friendship Committee for its vital role in advancing bilateral parliamentary, political, economic, cultural and academic cooperation in a way that realises the aspirations of the two friendly countries and their peoples.
He said that his short visit, the first to the Arabian Gulf region, had produced positive results.
