U.N. Chief Hails UAE’s Stances on International Peace

(New York) – The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon has expressed appreciation of the stances of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his efforts towards enhancing international peace and development efforts. Ban Ki-moon made his remarks as he met H.E. Ahmed Abdul Rehman Al-Jarman, the outgoing Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations at United Nations headquarter, in a meeting to mark the end of the ambassador’s tenure in this office which he had assumed in 2007.
The United Nations chief hailed the diplomatic efforts and contributions Al-Jarman has made during his tenure reflecting the UAE’s growing role in international multilateral efforts in political, economic and humanitarian spheres, noting in particular the UAE’s generous contributions to the United Nations’ funds and programmes relating to humanitarian issues, human rights and assistance to disaster-hit and developing countries.
Ki-moon also hailed the UAE’s balanced and prudent domestic and foreign policies which earned it an outstanding stature alongside the advanced nations thanks to its regional and international achievements and contributions in all spheres.
