
(Manama) – Tamkeen Chief Executive Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Janahi has received Teresa Carlson, Vice President and Head of Worldwide Public Sector at Amazon Web Services (AWS), on the side-lines of her visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain to attend the launch of the first Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure Region in the Middle East.
Dr. Janahi praised this key achievement stressing Bahrain’s strategic attraction for leading investment companies, especially in the ICT Sector.
He also emphasized the long cooperation between Tamkeen and AWS, which included a number of joint initiatives, such as the C5 Cloud10 technology accelerator programme, in addition to the launch of a number of professional qualifications specialised in AWS.
“We believe in the importance of the growing role of technology in the different business and economic sectors. Therefore, we are keen to develop the skills of Bahrainis in the field of technology to be able to manage the different businesses using the latest and cost-effective Cloud accelerators. Cloud1o has already demonstrated a proof of concept by bringing entrepreneurs to the region and increasing skills, jobs and investment opportunities in the GCC.
“We are aiming to support offering specialized training in AWS with the introduction of 12 professional qualifications as part of Tamkeen’s professional qualifications scheme,” he added.
Tamkeen supports enterprises from across all economic sectors in their different stages of growth with AWS services as part of its Enterprise Support Scheme.
