His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai attended the Shadwell Day at Newmarket’s prestigious Cambridgeshire Festival. The race, sponsored by Shadwell Stud, the thoroughbred horse racing operations of Dubai Deputy Ruler and Finance Minister, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, saw the attendance of a number of sheikhs and a host of horse racing enthusiasts.
Horses owned by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum demonstrated outstanding performance. Winner of Godolphin Mile at the Dubai World Cup 2013, the mount of Paul Hanagan Soft Falling Rain, for training Mike de Kock, was so impressive winning the Nayef Joel Stakes by recording 1.37.20 minutes; whereas the mount of Richard Hughes, Montiridge, was three lengths back to come in second place.
