(Paris) – The Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Theatre at Chateau de Fontainebleau in Paris was opened in a glittering ceremony by H.E. Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Tourism and Culture (TCA Abu Dhabi), and Aurelie Filippetti, French Culture Minister, after seven years of restoration.
The famous Imperial Theatre at Chateau de Fontainebleau was re-named by France after the UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in recognition of his generous support to the restoration of the cultural landmark following a historic agreement between the government of Abu Dhabi and France in 2007.
H.E. Mohammed Meer Abdullah Al-Raeesi, UAE Ambassador to France, Nicole Klein, Governor of Seine-et-Marne, Frederic Valletoux, Mayor of Fontainebleau, and an elite of politicians, businessmen, historian, archaeologists and cultural figures attended the ceremony.
In an address on behalf of UAE President, H.E. Sheikh Sultan expressed pride at the historic theatre, which carries the name of Sheikh Khalifa and deeply thanked French President Francois Hollande for re-naming the iconic theatre after the UAE President.
