(Dubai) – The UAE’s Higher Committee for Hosting the 2020 World Expo in Dubai held a meeting chaired by H.E. Sheikh Ahmad bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority; Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline & Group and Chairman of the Higher Committee for Hosting the 2020 World Expo in Dubai.
The Higher Committee reviewed final preparations for the Dubai Expo 2020 Theme Symposium which takes place on October 22-24, 2013. Just one month ahead of the final vote that will elect the host city on November 27, 2013, the event is of profound importance. The objective of the symposium is to discuss the importance and global relevance of the proposed Dubai Expo 2020 theme: Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.
In attendance will be over 200 representatives of the 167 member nations of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) – the inter-governmental organisation responsible for World Expo – including country ambassadors and delegates.
Plans for the two-day event were discussed in detail by the Higher Committee to ensure participants have an opportunity to explore the new types of partnerships and innovations that could be created by Dubai Expo 2020 across the main drivers of global development, as represented by the sub-themes of Mobility, Sustainability and Opportunity.
The Higher Committee expressed its appreciation to the local and federal government and business entities for their unstinting support and working with Dubai Expo 2020 to allow delegates to experience first-hand the many unique advantages the country has to offer as a potential host nation.
