Sheikh Abdullah receives UN Deputy Secretary-General

(Abu Dhabi) – H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, has received Jan Eliasson, UN Deputy Secretary-General.
During the meeting, they discussed cooperation between the UAE and UN in the humanitarian and development fields, as well as the assistance provided to various people to address dire conditions, especially those resulting from wars and disputes.
Sheikh Abdullah and Eliasson exchanged views on the latest developments regionally and internationally, as well as a number of issues of mutual interest.
Sheikh Abdullah confirmed the UAE’s desire to support the activities and programmes of UN organisations to continue efforts and make positive contributions in all humanitarian domains. He also noted that humanitarian work is facing a number of challenges, especially when it comes to helping the displaced and refugees across the world.
On his part, the UN Deputy Secretary-General praised the UAE for the efforts it exerted to support the UN’s humanitarian organisations, as well as for the aid it provided to needy people.
