Premier’s Sport Day initiative hailed

(Manama) – Information Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al Romaihi voiced appreciation of the ministry’s participation in Bahrain Sport Day with many sporting and recreational activities. He also praised the comprehensive media coverage of the event, in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and his decision to allocate half work day for sport activities at ministries and government institutions.

The Information Minister lauded the directives which reflect keenness of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the government to promote the concept of “sport for all” and foster its noble humanitarian goals in cementing unity, cohesion, the spirit of good citizenship and community partnership among all social components.

The Information Minister hailed the outstanding initiatives of Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa to develop the youth and sport movement. He pointed out success of the national sport day and the positive response to a decision by Presidents of the Olympic Committees in the GCC countries to hold a sport day in all GCC member states.

The Information Minister praised the efforts made to provide full coverage of the national sport event through TV and radio stations, social media networks as well as by broadcasting main activities and competitions held at Bahrain Sport Village, stadiums, clubs and gyms. He also pointed out coverage of the activities of ministries, governorates and various institutions as well as boosting awareness of the role of sport and its positive impact on the physical and psychological health, the quality of life and productivity.

The Information Minister expressed happiness about participation of the Information Ministry’s staff in the sporting activities organized by the ministry and BOC in cooperation with the sport associations. He also thanked the General Directorate of Traffic for its efforts to monitor movement of the participants in Bahrain Sport Day, including the cycling ride which was organized by Bahrain News Agency (BNA) with the participation of 25 employees from the Information Ministry who crossed a distance of 12 kms in the vicinity of the ministry, the educational area and Bahrain National Stadium.
