(Manama) – The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), in collaboration with Isa Culture Center, has staged a symposium on (Human rights and the environment) sponsored by Gulf Petrochemical Industries Co. (GPIC).
The symposium was held to coincide with Bahrain International Garden Show being held under the patronage of wife of HM the King, HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa. It aimed at introducing best practices to contribute to preserving environment resources.
On the sidelines of the symposium, NIHR President Dr. Abdulaziz Abul pointed out the NIHR responsibilities for protecting human civil and political rights, as well as providing clean, safe, healthy environment.
He noted the NIHR efforts in disseminating awareness among the people of Bahrain of their rights as guaranteed under the national legislation and international conventions.
Legal and environment experts addressed a number of topics, including legal, administrative and judicial mechanisms for the protection of the environment, as well as the social responsibilities for environment protection.
