MoL launches labour housing campaign
(Dubai) – The Ministry of Labour (MoL) recently launched an occupational health and safety awareness campaign pinpointing proper housing standards for laborers in compliance with Decree No.13 of 2009 issued by the UAE Cabinet.
Organised by the ministry’s Occupational Health and Safety Department, the campaign targets business owners in Dubai and the northern regions through three discussion meetings every week up to September.
“The campaign represents the ministry’s keenness on educating owners to follow a list of mandatory housing standards. Labour housing should include certain components to be built upon, such as the location, size and proportionality with the number of users,” said Director of Occupational Health and Safety Department, Ali Salem Al Qaiwani at a meeting with business owners.
On their part, business owners praised the ministry for organising the campaign to raise awareness of decisions relating to occupational health and safety in particular in order to help them avoid violations.
