(Dubai) – The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives in cooperation with Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has launched the Middle East Exchange Initiative, aimed at providing solutions for development challenges faced by the Middle East through thoughtful ideas of leaders of countries and Nobel laureates.
The initiative is one of the biggest especialised initiatives in the region, and will be launched on a weekly basis. Articles, pertaining to the initiative will be translated into 12 languages and will be disseminated through 468 newspapers across the world and expected to reach to 300 million readers. These articles will also be distributed electronically and through social media.
Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has approved the new initiative, saying, “The Arab world is in need for positive ideas to take on the developmental and daily life challenges with the contributions from the international intellectuals.”
He added that these ideas could represent positive beginnings to overcome a lot of challenges or inspire decision-makers to think differently in some developmental issues.
The Middle East Exchange Initiative will assign a group of international experts, including Nobel laureates and heads of states, academicians, and intellectuals to write several articles on a wide range of topics in the region on education, health, development and innovation. These articles will be published weekly in a number of newspapers around the world.
The initiative will focus on the issues related to human resource development, innovation, public health, education, tolerance, sustainability, poverty, and young people, skills, and employment, entrepreneurship, food, water and others.
