(Manama) – Interior Minister Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa held a meeting with the governors in the presence of the General Coordination of Governorates.

On behalf of governors, the Interior Minister welcomed HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and congratulated him on his appointment by a royal decree as Governor of the Southern Governorate. He wished him success in his new post to serve the homeland and citizens.

The meeting discussed its agenda that included projects under implementation.

HH the Southern Governor highlighted the security issues in East Riffa Souq and traffic accidents and violations on Bahrain Bay road, which require installing more surveillance cameras and intensifying traffic patrols.

He spoke of the results of his visits to a number of Majalises and meetings citizens, ministers and officials in the framework of meeting citizens’ needs.

The Interior Minister expressed appreciation of the governors’ efforts to meet citizens’ needs and promote community partnership.

Capital Governor Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa gave a brief on efforts to tackle issues related to street vendors through the formation of a work team and inspections.

Northern Governor Ali bin Shaikh Abdulmohsen Al-Asfoor talked about the street wall painting project themed “Coexistence in world’s languages” that coincided with Bahrain Declaration of religious tolerance that was announced on the sideline of (This is Bahrain) exhibition.

The minister stressed diversity is a strength and reflects Bahrain’s earned reputation. He called on governors to further interact with citizens’ complaints in coordination with the Police Media Directorate and the concerned authorities.
