H.E Klaus Ranner, Consul General of Germany in Dubai hosted a gala dinner to mark the Day of German Unity in Dubai. The glittering event was attended by distinguished guests from the UAE based diplomatic and consular community, UAE government officials, business leaders, and a large number of German expatriates living in Dubai. Guest of honour was the UAE Minster of Education, His Excellency Humaid Mohammed Al-Qutami, who was joined by the newly accredited German Ambassador to the UAE, who also spoke at the occasion. In his welcome address the German Consul General spoke of the long standing relations between Germany and the United Arab Emirates and outlined his vision for further expansion of these relations through growing trade between both countries, as well as cooperation in various sectors including culture and public diplomacy.
An especially flown in German soprano enthralled the audience by her live singing of the UAE and German national anthems. After the national anthems and the graceful cake cutting ceremony guests were entertained by a delicious buffet dinner which included an array of traditional German delicacies. Leading car manufacturer Mercedes, and German airline Lufthansa among others supported the event. The Consul General and officers of the German consulate maintained their tradition of warm hospitality to make the event one of the most memorable celebration of German–UAE relations.
