(Jeddah) – On behalf of Personal Representative of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, SCE Deputy President Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa attended the 20th meeting of the GCC Environment Ministers which convened at the Conferences Hall in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Shaikh Faisal conveyed the greetings of Shaikh Abdullah to the GCC ministers and officials and his best wishes of every success to them. He thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the good welcome and hospitality, wishing it continuous prosperity. He praised the vision of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud regarding promotion of the GCC work, thanking the Saudi Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the Chairman of the current session, for his efforts. He also thanked the GCC Secretary General and all affiliates of the Secretariat General for their continuous efforts to serve the GCC goals.

Shaikh Faisal stressed the need for more GCC cooperation to achieve set up goals, mainly in the environment field, and ensure sustainable development in the GCC countries. He also said the next meeting, which will be hosted by Bahrain, will serve as an opportunity to press ahead with joint GCC work in the environment field. He also took part on the sidelines of the meeting in the inauguration of the GCC Environmental Electronic Portal.
